I wasn’t planning on reviewing the KOL’s new album but after listening to it and being pleasantly relieved, I feel like saying a few kind words. We’d all heard the rumours that they were planning on returning to their roots however I still expected more painfully elaborate stadium-fillers that plagued ‘Only By The Night’. Despite this, the arena-rock anthems have been tamed. They’re still there, but in a more 'Because Of The Times’ way rather than what the previous two albums had to offer. Although they haven’t completely returned to the 'Molly’s Chambers’ vibe, Mechanical Bull is definately a step in the right direction. An impressive album considering the issues the band has dealt with in the past year.
